02/07/22 WHAT IGNITES YOUR SOUL?

02/07/22 WHAT IGNITES YOUR SOUL?

Do you burn with fear, desire, defeat, commitment?

The inner fire that drives men differs among individuals. But the fire that inflames Christians is the Holy Spirit of God.

Remember,
Hebrews 12:29
(29) For our God is a consuming fire.

It is sad that so many Christians must be constantly tended, like a fire that is trying to burn green wood, which has been wet by a recent but extended drizzle.

Those people require constant attention, coaxing, encouraging, coddling.
They are always on the verge of dying-out, while suffocating smoke rises, though there is no heat, no light, no fire.

The fire-starter must always be re-kindling the dying embers, adding new firewood, stoking the fire pit, ensuring a supply of oxygen, fuel, heat.

The tinder, kindling and wood gathering is a constant necessity.

Continuous stoking and feeding the fire is required.

The fire is essential to give light, to give heat, to cook food, to ward off denizens of the dark and nether world.

Sadly, in most churches, the average parishioner does not burn with a constant flame. The phrase, "incendiary fellowship," should be applicable to every church, but most churches are doing well to have a few flickering embers in the congregation.

There are a number of reasons people attend church services, many of which are worldly exercises that seem to warm the soulish part of people. However, it should not simply be a gathering that warms the soul. It should be a place where the Christians are Firebrands joining their own fires with other Torchbearers, creating a raging spiritual bonfire.

The pastor should not have to ignite an interest or fan a concern for spiritual work, for evangelism, for Bible study, for worship, for fellowship, for praise and thanksgiving. The desire for spiritual light, life, and love should be an all consuming fire in the belly of the believer.

God provides all we need to have the holy fire of God filling us. When believers are close to God and desiring the presence of God in their lives, then the fire of God will be evident to others. Remember, God gives us everything we need for life and GODLINESS.

The holy fire of God burning in us is a constant burning. The Holy Spirit is our unfailing Cruse Of Oil, He is our Fire. He fills us with purifying fire, enabling energy, guiding light. We have as much of Him as we want, that is why folks have as little of Him as they do.

Here is a great old song that encourages us to bring our vessel to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God.
BRING YOUR VESSELS NOT A FEW
Mrs. C. H. Morris
1 Are you looking for the fullness
of the blessing of the lord
In your heart and life today?
Claim the promise of your Father,
come according to His word,
in the blessed old time way.

Chorus:
He will fill your heart today to overflowing,
As the Lord commandeth you,
"Bring your vessels, not a few;"
He will fill your heart today to overflowing
With the Holy Ghost and pow'r.

2 Bring your empty earthen vessels,
clean thro' Jesus' precious blood,
Come, ye needy, one and all;
And in human consecration
wait before the throne of God,
'Till the Holy Ghost shall fall. (Chorus)

3 Like the cruse of oil unfailing
is His grace forevermore,
And His love unchanging still;
And according to His promise
with the Holy Ghost and pow'r,
He will ev'ry vessel fill. (Chorus)
