Here are over 50 passages (in the KJV) that admonishes us to BE NOT. Each of these passage, regardless of their reference, directs Christian away from issues that are detrimental to our spiritual life.

I give the passage and a brief explanation for each passage. This is not intended to be an in depth study of each point. It is just a list of warnings, which clearly can benefit any believer.

Sometimes it is not that someone has hurt you or your loved ones, but rather that they continue to cavalierly abuse your loved ones and blame them for supposedly misunderstanding and misrepresenting them. And the worst part is, without any remorse they mistreat and offend the children.

Folks can be forgiven for the things they have done in the past and have actually turned from doing. They can't be forgiven for continuing abuse and offenses, no matter how much we love them. Godly sorrow and repentance are essential to reconciliation. God does not forgive us of un-repented sin.

If you can believe that God can and will impart Divine nature to you (not making you God, but imparting a nature that conforms to the likeness of God's communicable attributes), then it is only reasonable (and it is Biblical) to believe God will cleanse you from the Adamic (Carnal, inherited Sin nature).

2 Peter 1:3-4
3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Remember, we were born with a human nature (the nature to be human, consisting of Body, Soul, Spirit), with which God created Adam and Eve, and which Jesus had from the time of His conception, as the seed of the woman.

We were also born with a Sinful nature (the nature to sin, consisting of the Carnal mind aka the Old Man), which was passed to all of Adam's descendants. This is why Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus did not have a sinful nature.

When we confess, believe and repent we are Born Again, or Born of the Spirit. It is at this time we receive a New nature (aka the New Man). From the time of our conversion we are able to obey God. The Bible says that he who is born of God does not commit sin. But we also have an old attitude of rebellion, which clings to the fleshly life rather than embracing the spiritual life. When faced with right and wrong, the battle of the Old and the New takes place. It is still left to the Human Nature to make the decision. By God's grace we are able to choose God's way.

However, the remaining inclination to sin causes internal strife and robs us of the fullness of the Holy Spirit. When we are willing to have God purify our hearts, we align with Christ in His crucifixion. This is why the Bible says:

Galatians 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 6:4-14
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

God has not called us to live, "the crucified life" but, "the resurrection life." Crucifixion is death to the Old self, which qualifies us for the continuous Resurrection life in the Spirit, without the internal battle. We are still able to sin, because our Human Nature has the power to obey or disobey God. The quality of our spiritual life is considerably better because we are not having to contend with the Old Nature, which is called, "the Law of Sin and Death," in Romans seven and eight.

Philippians 3:8-11
8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

DON'T MAKE THE WRONG CHOICE

So, the guy went to the doctor because of some physical difficulty he was suffering. The doctor told him he could either relieve the pain or remove the actual problem.

The problem in this little parable could have been vision, hearing, seeing, mobility, dexterity, digestive, respiratory, circulatory. It doesn't matter for this parable.

The man was told that medication and some therapy might take care of the pain, but until he had a major procedure performed, he would continue to have the problem.

The patient asked about the procedure, such as cost, dangers, advantages, recovery and possibility of the problem recurring.

The doctor explained that it was major surgery, but the cost was covered, there was no danger, every thing about the procedure was advantageous, improved lifestyle would be immediate, but there is the possibility of the problem recurring. However, the problem will not recur if the patient avoids the detrimental causes (which are actually behaviors and habits that offer no benefits) and follows a lifestyle of health an well being. This healthy lifestyle simply takes commitment and self control.

Remember, there was nothing beneficial in his ailment and it would eventually lead to complete collapse and death if he did not take the cure. The changes which the procedure cause would be nothing but beneficial. But it would require his cooperation with basic and normal lifestyle changes.

We have all seen this in real life. People are told that smoking would kill them in a short time if they continued to smoke, or they could expect a life of normalcy for many years if they gave up smoking. SO, THEY CONTINUED TO SMOKE.

The same can be said about alcohol and other drugs. The same can be said about unnecessary stress or fear or gluttony. Yet people choose to suffer, cut their lives short and risk hell because they want what they want.

God offers salvation from sins committed and He offers deliverance from an impure heart. He offers joy, peace, love, hope and He offers it undiluted, uncontaminated, if they will trust Christ fully for their cleansing.

Of course, it means dying to self, dying to the world, dying to the carnal mind. New Birth in the Holy Spirit is the beginning of salvation, followed Death to the Old Man.

There are no down sides to the fullness of the Holy Spirit, yet people hold onto the very things that have polluted, crippled, robbed them and their families. They hold on to the trash of this world and reject the riches of Christ, in this world and the world to come.

There is a perfection, which God requires redeemed people to experience and live. I use various names for this perfection, such as Atonement Perfection, Believer's Perfection, Biblical Perfection, Christian Perfection.

This perfection is not humanly inherent nor is it attainable or based in personal accomplishment. This perfection is the gracious, salvific work of God, in the believer, through faith. It is entered into by faith and then the believer continues to experience this perfection through an obedient faithful walk. God provides all of the blessings of salvation to the person who trusts Christ and Christ alone.

Though it is a gift from God to the believer, it is not optional. Just as the gift of salvation (forgiveness, cleansing, justification, regeneration) is a gift, but it is required for a person to receive it by faith and live it by faith, so the gift of this perfection (heart purity, Holy Spirit fullness, Perfect Love) is only retained by the believer who obediently walks by faith.

I refer to this perfection as:
Atonement Perfection (because it is provided through the atoning work of Christ's death and resurrection),
Believer's Perfection (because it is only available to the saved person),
Biblical Perfection (because it is explained and promised in the Bible),
Christian Perfection (because it is the perfection God provides and expects Christians to have in this life).

Unhappily, most Christians are not told about this work of God's grace. In fact, most Christians are told that such an experience and life is not real. But I choose to believe what God's word say rather than what errant theology says. Remember, non believers deny the initial work of conversion, therefore it is to be expected that folks who do not have Perfect Love will deny that it is possible.

There is much more that I have written about this perfection, but this post is just a reminder that God's saving grace is greater than our sins and sin. Believers already have a desire for this experience, relationship, life. It is in God's word and it is in God's salvation. We need all of God's grace.

This is why the kingdoms (nations, peoples) of this world fail, and as we draw closer to the "last days" there will be more corruption in society and government.

Do not trust in horses and chariots or silver and gold, or arm of flesh. The only One worthy of our trust is Jesus Christ, and since no one can make another person trust and follow Jesus, our responsibility is to make certain that we personally trust and follow Jesus.

God saves us from our SINS (our thoughts, words and deeds, which are willfully disobedient to God). We are accountable for our SINS, since we chose to rebel, disobey, transgress.

God also saves us from our SIN (our inherited inward inclination to commit sin.) This inward corruption is called, the Old Man, the Carnal Mind, Double Mindedness, Sin (in the singular). We are not guilty for inheriting a inclination to sin, but as we become aware of its presence in our lives, we become accountable for choosing to continue with and inward love of the flesh, the world, self.

Remember, God is willing and able to save us from our SINS, which includes the penalty or our SINS, the pollution of our SINS and the power of our SINS. In our conversion we are forgiven, regenerated, cleansed from our guilty conscience and imparted with God's Holy Spirit.

God is also willing and able to save us from our SIN. Deliverance from the Old Man is included in the atonement, though it is a separate and subsequent work of grace in the life of the believer. Remember, SIN as a nature was inherited, without our consent. We can no more choose our inherited spiritual condition than we can change our physical nature (race, gender). Jesus is the Lamb of God that takes away our SIN. This cleansing from ALL SIN takes place at the time we call on God to deliver us from the SIN attitude. At that time our heart is purified, even as Christ is pure and we are able to love God with our whole heart, mind, soul and strength and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

God not only forgives us our our sins, He saves, cleanses us from all sin.

One of the leading teachers of the sinning religion movement told me that Jesus does not save His people from their sins, but rather He saves us from the penalty of our sins. I refuted his lie by pointing out that the Scripture clearly says, "sins" rather than "penalty."

YES, He does save us from the Penalty of our sins, but it the Bible clearly says He saves us from our SINS, which includes sin's penalty, pollution and power.

I have mentioned this before. However, the point I am making is that now it is not unusual to hear people parroting the same blasphemy. Sinning religion has corrupted so many people for so long that well meaning believers are resisting, rejecting and ridiculing the extent of the atonement. People think they do service to God by mocking the power of the Blood, the power of the Spirit and the power of God's inspired Word, which repeatedly says that God's salvation is salvation from sin and sinning.

If you have fallen for the lie of sinning religion, you need to repent for contradicting and mocking God's salvation and revelation.

If you have read my postings, you know I have repeatedly given many passages that indicate that God either separates from sin or sin separates from God. It is one thing to be ignorant of God's truth, it is another to willfully deny what is clearly written.

Have you ever noticed that Gods grace (for most Christians) is sufficient to keep them from terrorism and serial killing, but not sufficient to keep them from deceit, anger, hatred, lusting, greed, gossip, selfishness, pride, covetousness?

Funny how that works, er... uh, doesn't work.
Or maybe it is the long arm of the law, rather than God's grace that keeps them from sins, which are also crimes.
Or maybe they are "saved enough" to resist the "big stuff" (like murder and rape) but the "small stuff" like love, mercy, kindness, self denial, honesty, are not covered or provided by God's grace.
Or maybe the "small stuff" doesn't matter to God, so why sweat the small stuff?

For whatever "reason," it appears that there are actually only a few real sinners in our society, such as Bundy, Dahmer, Gacy, Berkowitz. After all, they are the ones who don't have enough grace to refrain from heinous actions. Even Hitler supposedly liked dogs and children.

Of course, there are people who daily break God's "commandments," such as adultery, murder, stealing, lying, coveting, but then again, those folks are only human and God either does not care whether they do those piddling things or He is unable to keep them from doing such heinous sins or He is unwilling to save from the common sins of the flesh and spirit, or He actually WILLS SIN (as is taught by sinning religion).

OR HOW ABOUT THIS:
God can save and cleanse us from all sin,
Keep us from all temptation,
Save us from the guttermost to the uttermost,
Purify us as a distinctive people,
Conform us to the image of Christ,
Make us more than conquerors,
Always lead us in triumph in Christ,
Lead us in light,
Deliver us from the evil one.

These are just a few things I read somewhere, but I thought the source was trustworthy.

Anyway,
I actually do praise the Lord that He saves from the truly,
abominable sins of the totally incorrigible and,
I praise the Lord that He saves from all sinful thoughts, words and actions, every day, all day long, as we look to Him as the Author and Finisher of our faith and bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and walk in His light, which is the work of God and His grace in us.
I praise Him that His grace is greater than all our sin and that His salvation does not leave us in bondage to sin.
I praise Him for His Grace, the Blood, His Spirit, His Word, which makes us holy, keeps us clean, leads us in truth and righteousness.

Without Him and all of His provision I would be hopelessly lost in sin, I would be powerless to trust, obey, follow Him.

My salvation is not in me, but Christ in me, the hope of glory.

Here are some Biblical truths that some Christians have not accepted YET, because they have not been taught these truths, in fact have been taught to deny these truths.

Salvation delivers from a sinning life.

Sin Separates us from God or God separates us from sin. There is no such thing as a sinning follower of Christ.

God gave us His word so that we will not sin, and also, if we do sin as believers, God still provides those who repent with an Advocate.

Christ delivers, cleanses, purifies believers (by faith) from the Carnal Mind (Double Mind, Old Man, The Law Of Sin And Death), in this present evil world.

Christians can bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

New Testament Christianity prohibits Christians from violence, even to our enemies. God tells us that Christians are not called to wage carnal, physical war. God have appointed the State, which is not the Kingdom of God or The Church, to protect the righteous (law abiding citizens) and punish the wicked (criminals). The Church (Christians) wield the Sword of the Spirit and the State bears the sword of steel.

Christian obey the State, until the State opposes the teachings of God.

There are Christians who walk in the light they have and therefore they are cleansed from sin. If a person has not been enlightened by the Holy Spirit, concerning certain truths, that person is not accountable for those truths. However, God will not leave the faithful believer in darkness.

The vast majority of Black Americans (along with Liberal white people) have been deceived to believe that the Socialist, racist platform of the ruling political party is either agreeable to Christianity or subservient to other principles.

Those people will either repent of their anti-Biblical beliefs or they will willingly sacrifice truth for convenience.

This is why I say there are some attachments held by some Christians, which are not consistent with Christian principles, but I recognize that God's grace may include some folks with some aberrant beliefs, until such a time as God will hold them accountable.

So, abortion is wrong, recreational drugs are wrong, some recreations and entertainments are wrong, some jobs are wrong, some beliefs are wrong, but God is still God and I leave personal salvation with the person. But when a person comes to understand that their beliefs or behavior was contrary to the will of God, they need to confess and repent openly of their aberrant behavior.

Of course, we proclaim truth, with the expectation that those who hear it will follow it. As a pastor, I may accept that a person is following Jesus, even though they have some aberrant beliefs or behavior. I can accept that person, but that person needs to come to Biblical truth in order to hold a position of leadership in the church. A novice, a new convert is going to heaven, but a novice, a new convert, a babe in Christ is not qualified to lead other believers.

Yes, there are certain sins that are sins for everyone from the beginning of their Christian experience. But love and discernment are essential. Remember, the chaff (carnality) of a believer must be cast aside and burned, but the Tares (the Darnel, the Bastard Wheat), the people who claim Christ as their Savior, must not be cast aside, based on human assessment Tares are people, chaff is sin nature.

Obviously this does not explain all of my thoughts on this subject. I am simply trying to point out that God does have a standard, which He expects us to follow, but in His mercy he deals with us according to the light we have. Mature believers need to be patient, loving and kind, but we must not compromise God's truth, ever.

I saw a meme with this imagined conversation between a false"Jesus" who holds to a supposed "Calvinist" (or Reformed Theology), and a person seeking salvation. Though it is dangerous to use Jesus in an imaginary way, the doctrinal issue was valid and presents some important considerations.

Up front, I do believe in Election and Predestination, as it is revealed in the Bible, BUT NOT as it is misrepresented and explained by Reformed and Calvinist proponents. But this post specifically addresses a point brought up in the imagined conversation.

THIS IS THE IMAGINED SCENARIO...

The false "Jesus" and seeker are conversing.

Seeker:
"Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

False Jesus:
"Nothing, as I have assigned you to hell."

DLG says, I know, this is abrupt and offensive. However, the concept is in keeping with the actual teachings of many of the leaders and founders of the belief in a god who unilaterally, unconditionally chooses who will be saved.

Stop right here. I am not guilty of "works salvation" or "salvation by works" as the proponents of sinning religion will say at this point. This is about the question of election.

The god of unilateral election supposedly chose who will be saved, without providing or offering salvation to anyone else, which results in Double Sided, Unilateral Election. In other words, no one can be saved without Divine provision, invitation and atonement (which is true), however, the god of this false religion claims that their god withholds salvation from most people. According to this terrible doctrine, all men have sinned because they had no real choice or opportunity not to sin. All men are lost because of Adam's sin and they have no desire to be saved, they could not be saved if they had a desire to be saved and God is not going to give them that opportunity. In other words, all men are irretrievably lost because God does not provide for them (in His mercy), even though they were unable to keep from sinning. In fact, this blasphemous doctrine says that God predestined, elected the unsaved to not be saved, to commit the most grievous of sins, so that God could reprobate them and punish them forever, FOR HIS OWN GLORY.

Also, this supposed salvation, provided by this false god, represented by this false Jesus in this scenario, is without any conditions, such as faith, repentance, confession, obedience. This god not only chooses who will be saved, he does not require faith, repentance or confession (which the God of the Bible does require). 

This is why the false Jesus of this meme tells seeker that he (seeker) cannot do anything to be saved. False Jesus says that he has assigned seeker to hell.

Here are a few thoughts about this.

Point One
Many who claim to follow this false religion also claim that this false religion does not actually teach these heresies. I understand that. I would be ashamed to tell anyone I believed these heresies too. And maybe the particular person does not believe these lies, but that does not change the historic documents of Augustine, Luther, Calvin, Westminster Confession, The 1689 Baptist Confession.

Those of us who believe the word of God rather than the word of men are falsely accused of, "not understanding," "not honestly stating their position," being either RCC or LDS or some other cultic group who believes in works salvation instead of the work of Christ on the cross.

Point Two
Their god did not elect some to hell, he simply let them continue in the sins that they chose. Wrong. To withhold the only possible way of salvation, while condemning someone for doing that which was not their own free will, is not justice, it is not loving, it is not Divine.

Point Three
The end result is the same in this scenario, whether they were deliberately doomed to hell or not. If their god predetermined who would be saved, he also predetermined who would be reprobated. If he did not provide for their salvation, then he condemned them to eternal damnation, without hope, without Divine intervention or provision for salvation.

Point Four
Don't forget, this false salvation does not allow men to participate in the redemptive work of their god. God requires faith, repentance, confession, obedient following.

No man can save himself, but no man can be saved by the work of God unless he responds in faith and obedience.

So yes, if the god of sinning religion is real and if the doctrines of sinning religion are true, it is true that no seeker can ever do anything to be saved.

But, that is not what the Bible teaches.

If you want to trust the lies of sinning religion, don't believe, don't repent, don't confess, don't follow, don't obey (although the Bible clearly commands these actions from us). Just keep on doing what your doing and you will still go to heaven, if sinning religion is right.

However, if the revelation of God contradicts these teachings, then you cannot save your self by these actions, but neither can you be saved if you don't do these things.
