It is also like a little child covering his eyes and thinking he has made himself disappear. Closing your eyes to reality does not make it go away.

Carnal Christians (at best) run to Romans 7:14-23 as if it is a City of Refuge, thinking they can hide behind Paul's comment on inner conflict and failure. The fact is, Paul tore away the excuse of Romans 7:14-23 when he said that Christ saves from double minded salvation in Romans 7:24-8:14. People who hide in Romans 7:14-23 are like little children who cup their hands over their eyes and say, "You can't see me now."

Then, after Paul declared God's deliverance from sinful nature in Romans 7, he continued (Romans 8:1-16) to confirm the life of victory over all sin (which he introduced in Romans 6).
