10/22/22 BEWARE FALSE DOCTRINES
Someone posted this on one of the Groups, of which I am a member. Though it sounds absurd and though there are people who deny that these points are accurate, they are easily found and often repeated by those who believe that God deliberately did not provide salvation for all men.
The corrupt teachings of Augustine and Calvin, with the support of several religious Councils, contrary to God's word, have taught a system of beliefs, which contradict God's word.
They teach, man cannot choose to believe God, confess his sins, repent of his own sins.
They teach, Jesus did not die for the sins of the whole world and God did not provide salvation for all men.
They teach, God chose to pass by the major portion of human population, decreeing every act of man, even the vilest behavior imaginable, supposedly for His own glory.
The author of this article includes...
Quotes from the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith (which is very similar to the 1646 Westminster Confession of Faith).
He includes a short statement from John Calvin.
He also includes comments by Wayne Grudem, a popular and respected proponent of Reformed Theology.
I totally DISAGREE WITH and DENY the assertions of sinning religion found in Calvinistic and Reformed Theology.
But I address these doctrines because I want you to understand the dangers that dress themselves as Christian teaching.
Here is a portion of that article.
Calvinist: “God does not predestine people for heaven and hell. He simply passes over those people not saving them.”
Non-Calvinist: “Who makes the decision to pass certain people over not saving them?”
Calvinist: “God.”
Non-Calvinist: “Sounds like God predestines people for heaven or hell.”
The 1689 Confession states:
“By His decree, and for the manifestation of His glory, God has predestined (or foreordained) certain men and angels to eternal life through Jesus Christ, thus revealing His grace. Others, whom He has left to perish in their sins, show the terrors of His justice.”
“…salvation is freely offered to some while others are barred from access to it.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5)
Calvinist theologian Wayne Grudem defines reprobation as “the sovereign decision of God before creation to pass over some persons, in sorrow deciding not to save them, and to punish them for their sins, and thereby to manifest his justice.” Calvinism teaches that the one and only reason that the lost are not saved is that “God does not want them saved.” Grudem’s definition is clear on this point: reprobation is God’s “sovereign decision . . . before creation . . . not to save them.”
“We call predestination God’s eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition; rather, eternal life is fore-ordained for some, eternal damnation for others.” (John Calvin, Institutes of Christian Religion, Book 3, Chapter 21, Paragraph 5)
