01/06/22 GOD IS LOVE

(The following are some of my thoughts that were triggered about God after seeing a quote from Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, concerning Divine Love and Sovereignty. They may seem random, but they are intricately intertwined concerning GOD, HIS LOVE, OUR RELATIONSHIP. This is not a STUDY of God and His attributes, but a personal reflection.)

GOD'S NATURE
GOD IS TRIUNE, COEQUAL, CO-ETERNAL AND ETERNAL

God is Three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
These Three Persons, in One God are coequal and co-eternal and without beginning and without ending.
God the Father is Love, God the Son is Love, God the Holy Spirit is Love.

GOD IS LOVE (HE IS ETERNAL and HE IS RELATIONAL)
It is not only that God Loves, but God IS Love.
God has always existed.
Love has always existed.
God has always been Love.
When there was no creature or creation in existence, God was Love and God Loved.
If God had never created a living being, God is Love and God Loves.
The Father Loves the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The Son Loves the Father and the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Loves the Father and the Son.

GOD'S OMNIPOTENCE and VIRTUE
God is All Powerful, Sovereign, Just, Holy, but His almightiness and sovereignty and justice and holiness agree with and manifest God's Love.
GOD'S ASEITY (Self sufficiency)
God does not need anyone or any thing.
God is Self existent and Self sufficient.
There is inherent goodness, fairness, kindness, gentleness, compassion within God and these characteristics are seen in His works and revealed in His word.

OFFICES OF GOD
God is Creator.
God is King.
God is Lawgiver.
God is Judge.
God is Priest.
God is Sacrifice.
God is Savior.
God is Guide.
God is Advocate.
In all of these positions and activities, God is Love.
In all of His Nature and in all of His works, LOVE is a guiding influence.

God's RULE and JUDGMENT are based in DIVINE LOVE.
Therefore we need to have an understanding about His Divine Love if we are to understand His Nature and His Work.
All of the work of God must be consistent with His nature, and the nature of God is based in Love.
God's rule will not contradict God's nature (God's Love).
Truth does not contradict God's Love, it compliments it.
God's Justice does not contradict God Love or Truth, it agrees with them.
Remember, God has made it clear that those who Love Him will keep His commandments and His commandments will not be grievous to them.
Loving Him is the result of His redemptive work in us.
Accepting His Love results in honoring His sovereignty.
Accepting His sovereignty does not necessarily result in Loving Him.
It is possible to obey a ruler without loving the ruler but you cannot disobey the ruler you love.
Love is he fulfilling of the law.
Fealty, loyalty, subservience does not always stem from or result in love for the ruler.
A person can submit because of fear or greed or other reasons.
But Love, godly love, Perfect Love results in willing submission.
We Love Him, not because of a sense of duty or ought, but because He first Loved us and a "want to Love Him."
We Love because we are transformed by His Love in us.
If we are going to understand God's Love and sovereignty, then it is vital we understand His sovereignty in the light of His Love.
God does not need to bend His sovereignty to His love, because His sovereignty is agreeable to His Love.
It is erroneous to think that Perfect Love is restricted by sovereignty.
God has always Loved, and His attributes have always agreed with His Love.

God rules by Love.
His rule, His Justice, His Judgments, His Authority will always be based in His Love.
You may ask, how does God's anger, vengeance and wrath demonstrate His Love for mankind?
The answer is that His anger, vengeance and wrath demonstrate man's hatred and rejection of God and God's rule.
God's Love is deep and wide, but rebellion against God is outside of the realm of Love, outside of the realm of truth, wisdom, light and life.

Disobedience to God is the enemy of Love.
Sin is the enemy of God.
Sin is the rejection of God's rule.
Sin is the rejection of God's Love.
Sin is the rejection of God.
God's Love does not excuse sin.
God's Love does not overlook sin.
God's Love does not underestimate sin.
God's Love does not ignore sin.
God's Love does not accept sin.
God's Love hates sin.
God's Love excludes sin.
God's Love confronts sin.
God's Love condemns sin.
God's Love conquers sin.

My purpose in sharing this is to simply recognize the exceeding wonder of God's glorious Love.
