05/11/22 A PERSONAL WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

05/11/22 A PERSONAL WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT

A personal update on my overall physical condition. Not because I think it is interesting, but maybe it will help someone else.
I started having shoulder pain (left Deltoid area). It might have been caused by a shot I got at a drugstore. It could be that the worker hit a bursa sac. Whatever the reason, it is like a Bursitis pain. It caused me pain and restricted my movement, including my normal workout regimen.

As some of y'all know, I like to workout for health and strength. Since I could not workout for a while, I decided to start a walking program. This went well and I lost weight. I also started feeling better than I had for a while.
I did not go ballistic, but as often happens with my walking program, I started to have leg troubles, such as severe soreness in my right knee, until I could barely hobble a short distance.

Pain in shoulder and knee limited my activities to almost nothing.

This bothered me because it stopped my exercising activities.

I eventually decided to devise a modified and very easy workout program. I am now doing about three movements in order to reclaim some of my health and well being.

This is a very simple program, but it seems to be helping me.
Leg Raises. One leg for several reps, then the other leg for several reps, alternating for several sets.
Back Extensions on my weight bench machine. The weight is very light and I do several sets of reps, taking very short rest periods.
Stretching. Very simple and limited. The stretching movements are related to daily activities, avoiding strain to my shoulder and knee.

I am only doing movements in each area for three minutes each. This gives me a workout of 9 plus minutes, repeated a total of three times a day.

It seems to be working for me and I intend to increase my time and movements as I am able.
AGAIN, I am not saying this is the best for me and I am not encouraging anyone to do this routine. I am simply saying that sometimes we are hindered from exercise because of situations beyond our control. If it is at all possible to do other movements to reclaim physical abilities or to avoid physical problems, THEN DO THEM.

You may have problems that either slow you down or stop you completely. DON'T OVERDO. But if you are able to do something, DO IT. You may need to get a doctor's input. Don't make your situation worse. But most of the time folks just let their difficulty rule them, rather than finding other ways to improve their health.
I like to feel good. I like to be active. But sometimes it is more of a matter of just keeping from being disabled completely. It is not just about self or family (which are two great reasons to improve your health), but it is a matter of keeping active in service to God and other people.
