06/11/22 A LAWN LESSON
SCENE
Three deer came across our front lawn. They watched and backed off from passing vehicles. You could tell they wanted to cross the road. Fear of traffic held them back. I watched quietly, hoping they would not try. We watched as they moved 100+ feet across our lawn, looking for a break in traffic. The photos show that they were wanting to get back to the other side of the road. When the way was clear, one of them ambled carelessly into danger. I rushed out the door, barking like a dog. All three broke into a run for safety on the other side of highway 70.
MY ACTION
If a neighbor or passerby had seen me they might have thought I did not want the deer in my yard or that I did not care if they were to get hit by a vehichle. THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WRONG. I waited for a safe time to go outside, hoping to scare them to safety.
APPLICATION
As pastor, I see and know the dangers that threaten people. When I can't lead them to safety I at least try to warn them. Sometimes I have to scare them into action. It is an act of love.
Jude 1:20-25 (vss. 22-23)
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
